Our students have spent 5 weeks learning the entire process of filmmaking from industry standard lenses and working in their assigned departments to create a short film as a team. We will showcase their final product and short film titled “Hosts”. Following the screening\, we will present awards and acknowledgements. Your ticket donation and support helps us to continue to serve and pore back into the local philadlephia creative community and youth. \nEVENTS INFO: \n \n“HOSTS” SHORT FILM LOG LINE: \nAfter an undetected hurricane carrying parasite creatures from the ocean strikes a hospital\, staff are forced to make tough decisions in order to survive. \nSCHEDULE: \n\n5:00PM – 5:30PM – RED CARPET\n5:30 PM – 6:00 PM FILM SCREENING\n6:00PM – 7:00PM AWARD CEREMONY\nATTIRE: Dressy Casual\n\nPARKING: \nStreet parking is availanle. He’s an Executive Producer on the Telly Award-winning series “Life After” on Amazon Prime Video. The docuseries chronicles the unique post-NFL careers of various retired football players. “Black in Hollywood\,” a docu-series created by Miree explores the paths of Black creatives living and working in Hollywood and has won 3 top awards for Outstanding Doc on the festival circuit. Miree’s scripted digital series “The Other Side of Normal\,” received 2021 and 2020 honorable mentions for best TV Show/Web Series (Denton Black Film Festival\, Venice Film Awards). \nMiranda Bowden-Parker is a writer and director from Los Angeles. She’s written 8 episodes of television and has been a finalist in Color Creative’s ABFF Script-to-Screen\, Charles D. King’s Macro Episodic Lab\, Creative Lab’s Script-to-Screen\, and Write in Color. She most recently has penned episodes for Disney Plus’s Pretty Freekin Scary and MC Lyte’s television show Partners in Rhyme on AllBlk. \nCarlton Jordan is an award-winning writer\, director and producer who has spent nearly 20 years in unscripted television. He is currently serving as a Co-Executive Producer on ‘The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’ after serving as Consulting Producer on ‘Sweet Life: Los Angeles on HBO Max and ‘March’ on the CW . He is also developing a live-action project with Academy Award winner Regina King and an animated project with 50 Cent and Nicki Minaj. \nKanithea Powell started her career as one of the founding members of the Orlando Black Theatre\, the first African American theatre company in Orlando\, Florida. There\, she directed\, produced\, and performed in several plays before moving to Atlanta and starting a career as a television producer for a local TV station. In Atlanta she formed Qwest Films Network\, and dove head first into the world of film – “Finding Juliet”(accepted in 28 film festivals\, winner best short)\, “Two Minutes Two Seconds” (winner for best screenplay)\, “For Sale”(winner for best short film)\, “Humanity” (Winner for Best Short Film\, best Makeup and wardrobe\, best editing and is still on its film festival run). After making several successful films and winning a few film awards\, she moved to DC and released her first book “BUTCH\, Never Judge a Butch By Her Cover”. Butch has been featured in several national and global publications like Huffington Post\, NY Times\, Buzzfeed\, Diva\, and After Ellen-just to name a few. Butch can be found on Amazon\, Barnes and Nobles and in over 23 countries.
