INTRO TO FILMMAKING CLASS SHORT FILM: “HOSTS” SCREENING

 “HOSTS” SCREENING

Our “Intro to filmmaking” class for adults screened their short film: “Hosts” to an audience of over 120 attendees. Our students worked for 5 weeks learning the 5 phases of filmmaking: Development, Pre-Production, Production, Post-Production and Distribution. Each student was then placed in one of the 3 departments: Camera Department, Talent Department and/or the Assistant Directing Department for the remainder of the production. The screening also included an award ceremony and red carpet for all talent and crew.

Longline: After an undetected hurricane carrying parasite creatures from the ocean strikes a hospital, staff are forced to make tough decisions in order to survive.

Summary: Trapped underground after an undetected hurricane strikes a Philadelphia hospital, Dr. Morgan and her team of nurses and staff are running low on medical supplies. With little to no contact from above ground, it becomes increasingly more difficult to cure, treat and save patients. When the reality hits that help isn’t coming any time soon, Nurse Ivy combats the idea of continuing to use supplies on the injured and critically ill patients. This causes chaos and friction amongst the medical team. Just as they think their problems couldn’t get any worse, Nurse Sean receives info over the walkie that some sort of parasite has made its way to land from the ocean by way of the hurricane. But these aren’t just parasites or organisms, these are creatures looking for human hosts
