“Take One” Youth “Galaxy” Film Screening & Award Ceremony

Philly youth led short film, “Galaxy” premiered at Philm Factory’s red carpet screening & award ceremony to a crowd of over 350 attendees. 

Philm Factory’s “Take One” Youth Film Mentorship Program, in partnership with We Embrace Fatherhood, presented the screening of the short film Galaxy” at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University (located at 1900 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia, PA 19103) on September 22nd, 2024. After the award ceremony 34 youth filmmakers, grades 7th to 12th, and 4 graduates from Overbook High who are apart of the Mann Music Center apprentice program, were all honored and received awards. All the youth are from the Philadelphia region. 

The youth worked on the film from pre-production to production, and even built their own spaceship corridor film set from scratch. A portion of the program dived into the behind the scenes of the film Galaxy, which the youth worked on during the spring and summer.

After the event, the youth ended their night with a private VIP room with refreshments and prizes for their hard work.  Other event honorees includes background talent, We Embrace Fatherhood and Mr. Jim Smith. For all who attended it was a night to remember.
