“Take One” Youth “Last Laugh” Film Screening & Award Ceremony 2025

A Night to Remember: Take One Youth Film Program Premieres The Last Laugh at the Academy of Natural Sciences

The Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia transformed into a celebration of creativity and youth expression as the Take One Youth Film Mentorship Program premiered its newest short film, The Last Laugh. The red carpet event, powered by Philm Factory, brought together students, families, mentors, and supporters for an unforgettable night of storytelling and community.

From the moment guests arrived, there was a buzz of excitement and pride. Young filmmakers and their families posed for photos on the red carpet, capturing the joy of a project that represented months of dedication, teamwork, and artistic growth. Inside the museum’s grand halls, surrounded by towering dinosaur fossils and historic exhibits, attendees gathered to experience the culmination of the Take One participants’ hard work.

When the lights dimmed and The Last Laugh began, the audience was captivated. Created entirely by the youth participants over the course of the spring and summer, the film tackles the issue of bullying through a powerful, character-driven story. With strong performances, thoughtful writing, and creative cinematography, the film reflected both the personal insight and technical skill of its young creators.

Following the screening, an awards presentation recognized the filmmakers’ accomplishments and celebrated their growth throughout the program. The ceremony was filled with applause, laughter, and heartfelt moments as each participant was honored for their contribution to the production.

The premiere was more than just a showcase of a film—it was a testament to what happens when young people are given the tools and mentorship to bring their ideas to life. Through every step of the process, the students learned the fundamentals of filmmaking, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.

As the evening came to a close, the excitement was palpable. Families beamed with pride, mentors reflected on the students’ progress, and the filmmakers themselves took in the thrill of seeing their work on the big screen for the very first time.

The Take One Youth Film Mentorship Program, powered by Philm Factory, continues to nurture young storytellers by offering hands-on learning experiences that build confidence, creativity, and community. The Last Laugh premiere at the Academy of Natural Sciences was a shining example of what the next generation of filmmakers is capable of—and a reminder that their voices deserve to be seen and heard.
